Privacy Policy

Maverick Magician Last updated: 12 August 2026

This policy explains how Maverick Magician ("Maverick Magician", "we", "us") collects and uses personal information, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) and other South African law. We keep it in plain language on purpose.

1. Who this covers

This policy applies to: visitors to maverickmagician.com; people who contact us or book a call; our clients and their staff; and business contacts we research or approach for business-to-business purposes. Where we process the personal information of our clients' own customers inside systems we operate for those clients, we act as an operator under POPIA on the client's instructions; that processing is governed by our Terms of Service and the client's own privacy policy, and the client remains the responsible party for their customer data.

2. What we collect

When you visit or contact us: name, contact details, business name, and anything you include in a form, chat, WhatsApp message, or booking, plus basic technical data (IP address, browser type, pages visited) through cookies and analytics.

When you become a client: account and billing details, communication history, and the information needed to deliver the services (for example access credentials you give us for your Google Business Profile).

Business-to-business prospecting: we compile information about businesses (business name, publicly listed business contact numbers, addresses, websites, and public review statistics) from public sources such as search listings and directories, and use it to contact businesses about our services. We do not compile private information about individuals, and we permanently honour any request to stop contacting a business.

3. Why we use it (purposes and lawful bases)

We process personal information to respond to enquiries and deliver our services (performance of a contract); to invoice and collect payment; to send service communications; to market our services to businesses and to existing clients (legitimate interest and, where POPIA section 69 requires it, consent); to comply with legal obligations (tax, accounting); and to protect our legal rights.

4. Direct marketing

We follow POPIA section 69. If you are not a customer, we only send electronic marketing with your consent, and any such message identifies us and gives you a working opt-out. If you are an existing customer, we may tell you about similar services, and every message still carries an opt-out. Opting out is immediate, free, and permanent unless you re-subscribe yourself.

5. Who we share it with

We do not sell personal information. We share it only with service providers (operators) who help us run the business, under obligations of confidentiality and security: our platform provider HighLevel Inc. (CRM, websites, messaging; hosted outside South Africa), Google (business profile, analytics), Meta (WhatsApp Business Platform), our payment processor [Paystack], our accounting and banking providers, and professional advisers where necessary. We may disclose information where the law requires it.

6. Cross-border transfers

Some of our operators store information outside South Africa (mainly the United States). We only transfer personal information across borders as POPIA section 72 allows: where the transfer is necessary to perform our contract with you, with your consent, or where the recipient is bound by contractual terms that provide substantially similar protection to POPIA.

7. Security

We apply reasonable technical and organisational safeguards under POPIA section 19: access controls, encryption in transit, restricted staff access, and vetted operators. No system is perfectly secure, but if we ever have reason to believe your personal information was accessed unlawfully, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA section 22 requires.

8. Retention

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above or as the law requires (for example tax records for the statutory period). Prospecting records of businesses that decline contact are reduced to the minimum needed to honour the opt-out. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.

9. Your rights

Under POPIA you may ask us: what personal information we hold about you (access); to correct or delete it; to object to processing, including direct marketing; and to stop processing where the law allows. Contact the Information Officer at [email protected] and we will respond within a reasonable time. Access requests are handled under our PAIA Manual, available at PAIA Manual.

If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa): inforegulator.org.za, currently [email protected], JD House, 27 Stiemens Street, Braamfontein, Johannesburg. Please verify current contact details on the Regulator's website.

10. Cookies

The site uses necessary cookies to function and analytics cookies to understand how the site is used. You can block cookies in your browser; parts of the site may then work less well.

11. Children

Our services and site are aimed at businesses. We do not knowingly collect personal information of children. If you believe a child's information reached us, contact the Information Officer and we will delete it.

12. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version always lives at this page with its date. Material changes affecting clients will be notified directly.
