Maverick MAgician trading as Maverick Magician Prepared in terms of section 51 of the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 (PAIA), read with POPIA. Last updated: 13 August 2026
Why this exists: every private body in South Africa must have a PAIA manual. The old blanket exemption for small private bodies lapsed at the end of 2021. Most small businesses do not know this. Publish this on the website's legal page once completed, and keep a copy available at the business address.
The Information Regulator publishes a guide on how to use PAIA, available from the Regulator: inforegulator.org.za, and at the Regulator's offices (JD House, 27 Stiemens Street, Braamfontein, Johannesburg). The guide explains how to make requests and complaints.
3. Records we hold
Categories of records held by the business:
Company and statutory records: registration documents Maverick Magician, tax records, bank records. Financial records: invoices, statements, accounting records, payment processor records. Client records: engagement confirmations, correspondence, deliverables, service configuration records. Personnel records: contracts, payroll, statutory filings. Marketing and operational records: website content, prospect and marketing records, supplier agreements (platform providers, payment processor). Personal information records: as described in our Privacy Policy at https://maverickmagician.com/privacy-policy, processed under POPIA for the purposes listed there.
Records available without a PAIA request: everything published on maverickmagician.com, including the Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
4. How to request access to a record
Requests must be made on the prescribed PAIA request form (available from the Regulator's website), delivered to the Information Officer at the contact details above, with: enough detail to identify the record, the requester's identity (and if requesting for someone else, proof of authority), the form of access wanted, and payment of the prescribed fees where applicable. We respond within 30 days as PAIA requires (extendable as the Act allows). Grounds for refusal are those in PAIA (for example protection of third-party privacy, commercial confidence, or legal privilege), and any refusal will state the reasons and your remedies, including complaint to the Information Regulator.
5. POPIA processing summary
Purpose of processing, categories of data subjects and information, recipients, cross-border transfers, and security measures are as set out in our Privacy Policy at https://maverickmagician.com/privacy-policy, which forms part of this manual by reference.
6. Availability of this manual
This manual is available on maverickmagician.com /legal and on request from the Information Officer, free of charge.
